handwoven zipper pouch : process

A little of the process. They exterior textile is handwoven on a vinage floor loom. Taken off, pressed and sewn.  Each zipper pouch is lined and handstiched with selvage denim chambray.  A leather corner detail is hand sewn with waxed linen.

I am still amazed by the process of turning fiber to fabric.

Four different zipper pouches available in the shop. Each is one of a kind, the pattern varies from side to side. Bags are woven of wool and cotton fiber.

custom work

My first custom project.  I was asked to take this vintage briefcase (above) and add an adjustable shoulder strap.

I was afraid to structurally attach the strap to the existing bag because the leather was so dry. Instead I wrapped leather underneath the briefcase with adequate cut outs for the brass feet on the bottom.

This was also my first leather dye job.  I used vegetable tanned leather with a combination of olive oil and drops of leather dye.  Brass hardware + hand-sewn stitching.

girls cabin weekend.

Official name, panty party, but I don’t talk that way. I am a lady.  This is a belated post (as they all are) from a few weeks back.  Eight of us piled into two cars and drove out west.  We spent two nights on the Oregon coast.  Wood burning fires, home cooked meals, walks on the beach, coffee, wine, Polaroid, 35mm, iphone instagramming, karaoke, knitting, tarot cards, thrifting, antiquing + visiting with someone who lives too far away. thank you.

sleeping in.

weekend

beyond excited for it to be the weekend. plans of getting up early, going for walks and being attached to my loom.

although these images are all sun, the rainy forecast (will fingers-crossed) force productivity + organization. boring.
